No necessity for Weyland-Yutani 'Corp' monniker by eaglespear No necessity for Weyland-Yutani 'Corp' monniker by eaglespear
The necessity to call it Corp was required when Ridley Scott and the writers had to emphasize the ominous presence of the evil corporation behaving with the impunity of a government. This collusion between governments and companies isn't unprecedented, paraphrasing James Cameron the murky divide between governments and private industry extends prominently to the East Dutch Trading company's affiliation by militarily pacifying native populations for Dutch colonists and providing security for settlements including naval escorts for resupply ships.
But now as in the future, the differentiation between nations and corporations may seem murky but the necessity to describe Weyland-Yutani it as a company isn't required.
Consider other well known brands, that don't list their Corp monniker in their name like Apple "Corp", Intel "Corp", Toshiba "Corp".
Rebalancing the name is and the slogan is the more likely logo. Inversely, nations aren't referred to as United Kingdom "Country"
